Test system for indoor positioning equipped with ultrasonic rangefinder
Technology
Ultrasonic rangefinder
Embedded Linux
8 bit mikrokontroller
2.4 Ghz radio, IEEE802.15.4
Low-power
The specification was to build an ultrasound-based matrix system to gather experience in indoor positioning.
The matrix consists of 12 ultrasonic rangefinder modules and a central data-collection and control unit. Measurements may be initiated on all modules at once, or selectively. Unused modules remain in sleep mode, extending the lifetime of the system. The modules communicate with each other and with the central unit via low-consumption radio transceivers.
The hardware was assembled from externally-sourced ultrasonic and radio units, and a power supply unit.
